Inactivating stock items

If a supplier no longer stocks one of your products or changes the Pack Size of a product you will need to inactivate the stock item so that it cannot be sold by mistake.

To inactivate a redundant stock item with no stock on hand quantity

  1. Go to: Stock menu > Stock Details > select stock item.
  2. Select the Inactive check box.

Please note that a stock item cannot be made inactive if it is used in formulations.

When you click the Inactive check box on the Stock Details window, VisionVPM will display a message similar to the one below:

VisionVPM will then display the formulation list.

You should correct the offending stock item.

To inactivate a stock item with stock on hand quantity, in order to change the Pack Size

You will need to inactivate a stock item and create a new record when, for example, a supplier changes the pack size of a stock item. You should follow the procedure below.

  1. Go to: Stock menu > Stock Details > select stock item.
  2. Click Adjust.
  3. Click OK or change the date to the date when the stock item should have been adjusted.

  4. Select the Inactivate this product and create a new stock item check box, and then click Yes.
  5. Click Yes to the following prompt:

  6. VisionVPM defaults the reason to New Product Created, which can be overtyped if required.
  7. Click Save.

  8. Click Yes to the altering the stock balances prompt as shown below:

Please note if you do not create a new stock item and the original stock item is used in formulations, VisionVPM will display a message similar to the one below:
